We tested an extremely puristic representative of the rain jacket guild with the Löffler Prime GTX Active. The jacket is available in a total of four colors (red, blue, black and yellow); we received the bright yellow version for our test – it is certainly a good choice in terms of visibility in traffic, also because Löffler is responsible for the reflective elements saved something. Apart from the two small Löffler logos on the chest and on the lower back and a subtle GoreTex lettering on the sleeve, nothing reflects the light. The cut and orientation of the jacket are difficult to pigeonhole, since the longer back, stand-up collar and overall body-hugging cut are clearly aimed at cyclists, but the jacket offers plenty of air and, depending on the physique, also in everyday life should not be a wrong choice, even if the front is quite short.
We find the placement of the only available pocket to be extremely successful. It is located on the back right side and is therefore very easy to reach while riding, but without being in the way when pedaling. The contents are protected by a sealed zipper. You have to do without other pockets as well as ventilation openings. The cuffs are very well solved with a wide Velcro fastener, with which the width can be perfectly adjusted to your own needs.
The material used for the Löffler jacket is the GoreTex Active Shell. The 3-layer membrane combines low weight, excellent weather protection and good breathability. In any case, the Löffler jacket was one of the best jackets in our test in terms of weather protection. All zips are sealed, and even continuous heavy rain showers could hardly elicit more than a tired smile from the material.
