General: TOUR Transalp: Ertl/Renz-Velomotion 2 – With MTB power and experience

June 17, 2016 by the editorial office

Everyone: Already in the last week we had you from our Ertl/Renz Velomotion Team 1 reported for the upcoming TOUR Transalp. This year we want to get it right and are sending together with our partner Ertl/Renz a second team in the race: ex-professional and Transalp veteran Holger Sievers will be at the start together with our MTB ace Lennard Heidenreich.

It is always said that the recipe for success is the right mix of youthful carefreeness and a lot of experience - we were able to successfully implement this concept with our second TOUR Transalp Team Ertl/Renz-Velomotion 2. Former professional and 'old hand' Holger Sievers, who started last year together with Gerrit Glomser as Team Velomotion at the Transalp, is back in 2016 as well. Lennard Heidenreich, who is only 20 years old, will start alongside him. Lennard actually comes from the cross-country area and had one in 2015 in a tender on Velomotion Starting place at the Zillertal Bike Challenge won where he jumped in the U23 rating triumphed and since then as Team Velomotion powered by CENTURION goes from success to success. So now a trip onto the road awaits, where he will have to put his climbing skills to the test.

The preparation of the two was ambitious, but not dogged: Holger spends as the owner his Cycling Academy full-time anyway a lot of time in the saddle and at (racing) events. At the German Duathlon Championships in May, he showed that he had the right legs when he came in runner-up. Lennard has spent the last few weeks after great performances at the bike festivals in Riva and Willingen spend a lot of time on the racer to prepare for the Transalp challenge.

Both are really looking forward to the event and to the dynamic within the team of two: "I'm looking forward to my partner. Maybe I can give him some tips for his sporting future, that would make me very happy." says Holger. The Ertl/Renz-Velomotion 2 team will not start too doggedly and Holger is aware of his special position as a former professional: "I don't want to go for a result [...] As a former professional, I find that at the TOUR Transalp for everyone, which is anything but appropriate. From my point of view, young drivers who drive around the ears of everyone who is just cycling away from the mid-life crisis belong in licensed or amateur sport. So I can't really appreciate their performance," Holger makes it unmistakably clear.

In any case, we are looking forward to a hopefully great Transalp with Holger and Lennard. We will be before and during the race starting on June 26th (here is the route preview) of course keep in touch with the two and keep you up to date on the status of the Ertl/Renz-Velomotion 2 team.
