Product news: Former professional Holger Sievers successfully with his Cycling Academy in Aachen

25 April 2016 by Marcus Degen

As a former professional cyclist, Holger Sievers is probably only known to connoisseurs; he shaped German cycling with “his” team Lamonta. For years, Lamonta was considered the most effective breeding ground for young German cycling talents. Sievers himself has four German team championship titles in his palmarés as well as victories in the most famous German cycle race around the Henninger Turm (below), as well as in the king of cycle marathon events, the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon.

From 2003 to 2008 he was sporting director of the professional team Lamonta and the subsequent team 3C group. Since 2009 he has led the amateur team SC Wiedenbrück 2000 to numerous successes. His teams were always number 1 nationwide at their level. In 2004, Lamonta won the global team ranking of the UCI Continental teams! (Below Sievers with Danilo Hondo)

In the meantime, the ex-professional is the operator of the Aachen Cycling Academy and looks after amateur athletes, school projects and company sports groups. Above all, Sievers puts a lot of passion and heart and soul into making cycling an integral part of physical education in schools. We all know that youth work in road cycling isn't exactly going smoothly, so we have all the more respect for Holger Sievers for his work in Aachen and the surrounding area.

Today we present the three pillars of Sievers Cycling-Academy on Velomotion.

Promotion of young talent – bikes go to school

In the spring of 2013, the Cycling Academy established the social project "Rad macht Schule" in Aachen and the city region. The aim is to set up a functioning cooperation between the cycling club and schools within the framework of all-day lessons. School sports groups are offered in the form of cycling clubs. The focus is on the joy and fun of exercise, and social aspects should also be promoted in the courses. As a cooperation partner, the Aachen cycling club, RC Zugvogel 09 Aachen, stands by your side in an exemplary manner!

Everyone area – Team Granfondo

In his Granfondo team, Holger Sievers would like to support every member competently and individually until they achieve their personal goals and wishes, so that dreams can be experienced and, above all, achieved together in a team on the bike. Fitness and bike control are elementary in order to realize the dream of a successful and safe participation in a race.

“This is exactly where I want to focus with the Cycling Academy. As a personal coach, I pass on my experience as a professional cyclist and team manager to the members of Team Granfondo-Cycling-Academy, so that everyone can achieve their goals fit and healthy..."

… that's Sievers' motto. From the offers of training camps, races for everyone, bike marathons or training support and planning, each team member can plan an individual season according to their wishes and possible free time. So it is possible for every Granfondo driver to use his free time optimally for the most beautiful thing in the world, in addition to work and family.

Company sport – team building

With the help of cycling-specific programs, the Cycling Academy offers an ideal supplementary instrument for entrepreneurial personnel and organizational development. In various forms, fitness, well-being, social culture, working atmosphere and team building can be optimized across preferences based on experience. Cycling is ideal as a low-threshold offer, since almost everyone rides a bike and the various goals can be reached "independent of the type of bike". By means of various programs, sustainable effects can be achieved for the company and the employees.

For example, Sievers Cycling-Academy is the organizer of the industry event "Möbler Meilen", organizes mountain bike tours and training courses as a regular offer for company sports, accompanies and organizes bike tours as incentives, team-building measures or conference supplements.
