Test: Good eye protection is essential when cycling. They are always at the mercy of the weather and so you should consciously try to protect them. With the Evil Eye Halfrim Pro S, we had a promising model from Adidas in the long-term test and are still enthusiastic.
There are a lot of glasses and often even the cheap ones are not a bad choice, but then why invest a little more money in an Adidas Halfrim Pro, for example. I have asked myself this question many times in the past. Adidas glasses have always been in the upper price segment and I was always a bit put off by them. With the test of the Halfrim Pro S I was finally able to form my opinion and find out whether it is worth paying a whopping 229 euros for a pair of glasses.
As the name suggests, the Adidas Evil Eye Halfrim Pro S has a frame that is open at the bottom. The sporty design impresses with understatement and can score with green accents. If you don't like the combination, it should be said that Adidas offers countless color variations for the Halfrim Pro.
The frame is made from an extremely light, temperature-resistant and flexible high-end material called SPX. With integrated flex zones that are supposed to offer additional stability, Adidas promises a perfect fit on the head. The fit of the temples can be adjusted in three stages at an angle of 8 degrees. The nose pads can be adjusted in two stages and guarantee a secure fit.
For optimal ventilation, the glasses have ventilation openings on the nose bridge and on the forehead. A forehead pad is also attached to the upper edge of the glasses, which is primarily intended to protect the eyes from sweat.
The glasses are sent in a plastic case, spare lenses and a lens cleaning pouch/cloth. The entire package makes a very high-quality impression right from the start. The glasses supplied can be easily changed thanks to a quick-release fastener, so that you are perfectly equipped for every weather situation.
Expectations were high and even exceeded. The seat of the glasses can be optimally adjusted to the face thanks to the many adjustment options and sits firmly on the nose.
The glasses have now been in use for more than six months and have had to face every challenge. Whether city, forest, cross-country, enduro, racing bike or dirt, the Halfrim Pro S was there everywhere and consistently left a very positive impression.
The frame offers a good fit without pinching and slipping. Nothing that cheaper glasses can't offer, but the big difference is in the lenses. The polycarbonate lenses offer 100% UV protection and are well ventilated thanks to the good ventilation system. Misted glasses are history. Even after a long sweaty tour, the lenses remain clear, so you can wear the glasses almost all day.
The patented Quick-Release Hinge System makes it possible for the brackets not to break out in the event of a fall, but to detach from the hinge and be reinserted immediately.
The glasses also offer good protection against wind, dust and rain without being in the way. They don't lie close to the skin, but don't offer enough space for the wind to get behind the glasses.
Conclusion
The Adidas Halfrim Pro S is a gifted all-rounder. Whether on the street, in the forest, in the city or even in everyday life - the glasses can convince in every situation. In terms of fit, comfort, protection and ventilation, it definitely deserves a very good. With a recommended retail price of 229 euros, there is still a bitter aftertaste.
