Bicycle tire lever test: The Crankbrothers Speedier Lever proves how diverse bicycle tire levers can be. In the event of a slip, the wrap-around design protects the fingers and knuckles from injury. The special design of the lever is also intended to make mounting and dismounting tires much easier. We tested the Crankbrothers Speedier Lever tire lever.
Crankbrothers Speedier Lever: First impression
One lever, two functions and protection for the fingers and knuckles in the event of slipping: The Crankbrothers Speedier Lever stands out clearly from the competitors in the Velomotion bicycle tire lever test. A specially designed end is provided for putting tires on and taking them off. What is particularly striking is the fully enclosed, ergonomic handle. In combination with the finger recesses, the lever made of nylon offers an extremely secure hold. However, the area is quite narrow, which can be a problem for larger hands. The recesses specially designed for the thumb enable even greater use of force when working.
The bicycle tire lever in the test
Using the Remove page requires almost no words. There are no differences in handling compared to conventional tire levers, except that the fingers are offered increased protection. For stubborn tires, like any other lever, a second lever is needed. Tires are installed using the specially designed install page. The hook is placed over the edge of the rim; the flex allows it to be used even with slightly thicker rim walls. Following the path of the rim, the tire bead can now be pushed into the rim well. This works great with conventional tires; a little tire assembly fluid makes the work easier. However, if the tires are stubborn, a second lever is needed here too.
