Test: Today we are looking at the Tune Spurtreu, an optically inconspicuous gadget from the Swabian luxury manufacturer Tune. The CNC milled part with integrated laser pointer should help to straighten the stem quickly and with 100% certainty. This also works in the test – mostly.
The Spurtreu was developed by the bicycle mechanic and Tune fan Wolfgang Heer, who has already taken care of the bikes of numerous professional cyclists. Since speed and accuracy are of course important in the training camp or in the race, he came up with the idea of directional stability at some point. But professional mechanics share this problem with countless hobby cyclists and mechanics out there: In the workshop, the stem is meticulously adjusted, only to find out after two minutes on the bike that it is simply not quite straight.
Ultimately, the Spurtreu consists of only two parts: the black milled part, which has cut-outs for the handlebars and stem, and of course the laser pointer attached to it. How it works is as simple as the construction: you place the Spurtreu on the handlebars and stem, press the button on the laser pointer and align the stem so that the red dot of light points to the center of the tire. Complete.
The Spurtreu not only helps when remounting - our testers checked all the bikes that were already installed and most of them stems were of course crooked. The little black gadget works wonderfully, with one single exception: the Spurtreu cannot be used with short stems under 70mm, which are often used on enduros or comparable mountain bikes, because there is simply not enough contact surface for the CNC part. However, that is the only limitation.

Conclusion
The Tune Spurtreu is a great little tool for those who like to screw a lot or just have a soft spot for such clever gadgets. In addition, the small black Spurtreu is wonderfully processed and looks really good. Almost too good for the tool box...
