Most bikers have experienced the disadvantages of a less than ideal saddle up close. Back problems, chafing and numbness in the crotch are just a part of what can happen when using the wrong saddle. To put it in a few words: A saddle has to fit just as perfectly as shoes.
In the new video from SQlab, the way to the perfect saddle is impressively explained. The urologist and sports medicine doctor practicing in Munich, Dr. medical Stefan Staudte, himself an enthusiastic mountain biker, explains the anatomical basics and the advantages of a step saddle compared to a conventional saddle. Another important factor in choosing the ideal saddle is the saddle width. For optimal pressure distribution and relief of the perineal area, SQlab therefore offers variants from 12 to 24 cm. In addition, the active system, which follows footstep movements, cushions the pressure on the sit bones. Further details, including the possible late effects that should be taken seriously, are shown in the video.
