The new S-Works Romin Evo saddle: Perfect fit from the 3D printer

September 21, 2021 by Florian Nowak

Product news: With the new S-Works Romin EVO Mirror saddle, the US manufacturer Specialized has brought one of its most innovative technologies to the most popular saddle shape among professional cyclists. Using a 3D printing process, the saddle was developed to minimize pressure points, ensure blood flow and offer comfort even in the most aggressive seating position.

The core element of the new S-Works Romin Evo saddle is the so-called mirror technology with which comfort and performance are to be redefined. With a 3D print made of liquid polymer, the Mirror technology perfectly reflects the rider's anatomy and can thus offer an ideal fit. Because in this revolutionary process, a complex honeycomb structure is created that makes it possible to continuously adjust the density of the material, which would be impossible with foam. The result is a patent-pending matrix of 22.000 branches and 10.700 nodes, each of which can be individually tuned.

This technology has now been combined with the proven performance road bike saddle Romin Evo to get the most out of it and offer high-end performance. This is made possible thanks to its FACT carbon shell and the ultra-light seat stays, which are known from the previous model. With the well-known Body Geometry design features you get additional comfort all the way.

S-Works Romin Evo Mirror Saddle Features:

  • Sit Bone Support: With a unique concave shape and flex-tuned FACT carbon shell, there's more room for the 3D print itself. With 22.000 branches and 10.700 nodes, the saddle offers more seat travel than ever before.
  • Adjustability: The nearly infinite malleability of Mirror technology creates a broader, more even distribution of sit bone pressure with a sort of "hammock effect," meaning it's really the saddle that bears the weight and not the tissue around the sit bones.
  • Release of the soft tissue: The new S-Works Romin Evo with Mirror uses a supportive, ergonomic recess to protect circulation in sensitive soft tissue by ensuring that the rider's weight is supported by the pubic bone and not soft tissue in an aggressive riding position.
  • Performance-oriented saddle shape: With a length of 26 cm and a slant at the rear of the saddle, the S-Works Romin EVO with Mirror offers a shape for riders who like to slide forward for an aggressive, aerodynamic position and sit more backwards when climbing passages.
