Market: With the One-Twenty, Merida proves that a tried-and-tested bike still has room for improvement. The touring fully has been completely turned upside down and shows fundamental changes compared to the previous model.
The most obvious modification is certainly the 27,5 inch tires. By using the new wheel size, the Merida One-Twenty should also benefit from even better rolling behavior and more grip. The engineers didn't just change the wheel size, they completely redesigned the chassis. With modified geometry and kinematics, the Merida One-Twenty is more modern than ever. The bike is intended to appeal to touring riders for whom a demanding descent is part of a tour.
The steep seat angle of 74,5 degrees should ensure sovereignty on crisp climbs. According to the manufacturer, the supported single-joint design with Float Link impresses with a neutral chassis characteristic without drive influences. With a sensible 120 millimeters of suspension travel and a flat 68-degree steering angle, the Merida promises impressive downhill performance. The steering center consists of a deliberately wide handlebar and a 70 mm short stem – the only exception here is the size S bike with a 60 mm stem.
The developers have given the bike a 12 mm "E-Thru" thru-axle for a high rigidity of the rear triangle. Particular attention was paid to the routing of the cables when optimizing the frame. The innovative cable routing called "Down Tube Exit" allows good access to the protected cables and lines. The "Double Stop" prevents the cables from wandering and slipping when the suspension is compressed. The remote function of the damper has also been optimized.
The Merida One-Twenty is available in six different versions. An inexpensive entry is possible with the One-Twenty 7.500. The bike is built with an SR Epixon XC RL-R 27.5 suspension fork and hydraulic Tektro Auriga disc brakes. The bike tips the scales at 14,2 kilograms and is available for 1399 euros. The One-Twenty 7.900 is the ideal weapon for trail hunters. The bike costs 3199 euros and offers maximum riding fun with complete Shimano XT equipment and Fox components.
