General: Big plans for Drapac Pro Cycling

17 November 2014 by the editorial office

Cycling: Michael Drapac recognizes the economic benefits of sport sponsorship and would like to see his cycling team compete in the World Tour by the end of 2017.

Founded in 2004, Team Drapac Pro Cycling achieved Pro Continental status in the 2014 season. Although the season was rather mixed for the team, Michael Drapac is certain that a significant improvement is possible in the coming season. So he has big plans and would like to apply for a World Tour license in the next few years. Drapac hopes this will significantly increase business as owning a cycling team in the US will help create a positive business image.

Drapac is pursuing a 10-year plan, but there is an increased need for funding. Instead of a $2 million budget, the major division team would need $12 million. Because of this, Drapac is now looking for a large co-sponsor that fits its business. Drapac's plans also include implementing a transition program for those team members who are retiring. Through personal support, work experience, study and other educational opportunities, the riders should be prepared for life after cycling during their active years.
