For the second time since 2008, Alejandro Valverde celebrated a victory at the Clasica San Sebastian. After 220 quite demanding kilometers, the Spaniard won solo in front of the Dutchman Bauke Mollema and Joaquin Rodriguez, another Spaniard. For Valverde it is the tenth win of the season and a small consolation for the podium finish in Paris that was lost in the last week of the tour. Last year's winner Tony Gallopin finished fifth behind Mikel Nieve.
The top ten are completed by Belgian Jelle Vanendert, Haimar Zubeldia, Greg van Avermaet, Italian Giovanni Visconti and Czech Zdenek Stybar.
