Test: Oliver Elsenbach's custom-made carbon shoe insoles in an old building in Cologne grew a few weeks ago. In addition to the well-known Solestar insoles, there are the Solestar Control now an in-house counterpart, which is aimed primarily at those drivers for whom 249 euros for a set of individually adapted insoles is too expensive, but who still want to enjoy a better footing in the shoe.
Like the model that enjoys great popularity in the professional sector, the Control has a stable core and exudes good comfort. The special thing about it: an individual adjustment is not necessary and the price is a lot cheaper at 99 euros.

In the development of Control the experience has flowed from hundreds of individually adapted soles. It is therefore not surprising that even with the mass-compatible insole, the so-called stabilization delta, which keeps the foot in an optimal position in the shoe.
This achieves a neutral position of the foot and improves power transmission. In addition, the insole can prevent incorrect loading. In order to achieve this, the arch of the foot is supported on the one hand and the forefoot is slightly raised on the other. The metatarsal area is relieved by a small cushion.
In contrast to the individually manufactured insoles, the core here is made of blackfibre. The upper material is also different. Nevertheless, you get a much better footing in the shoe than is the case with the conventionally supplied insoles. It is pleasant that the feet no longer tire due to the changed position in the shoe - a clear gain in comfort.
Compared to the individual soles, they are only slightly inferior. However, it is not necessarily the core that is responsible for this, but the upper material. If you want to stand firmly on the insole in competition, the anti-slip padding of the Solestar should be a little better.
But that's the only shortcoming, because apart from that, the people of Cologne are doing with the Control all right. In addition, as a customer, you get a six-week right of return in case you are not completely satisfied with the insole.
Conclusion
The Solestar Control offers a noticeably better grip and stand in the shoe. This significantly increases comfort when driving, which ultimately translates into improved performance.
