To celebrate its 125th anniversary, the French wheel specialist Mavic presented the new Ksyrium 125 wheelset. This revised version is limited to 5000 sets and comes with specially developed tires. Completely new tires were designed for both the front and rear wheels, perfectly complementing the new wheelset. Mavic's Inter-Spoke Milling (ISM) technology, which they have long used to reduce rim weight, has been refined for this new set. To achieve the perfect product, each rim is individually measured and weighed, allowing for maximum material removal without compromising stiffness and strength.
The new Mavic Ksyrium 125 uses a mix of aluminum and carbon spokes. The front wheel features exclusively Zicral aluminum spokes, while the rear wheel uses the familiar carbon spokes on the left side, the same design as used on the current Ksyrium SLR wheels.
Mavic completes the wheelset with matching tires – the GripLink on the front and the PowerLink on the rear – ensuring optimal rolling characteristics. The differences aren't limited to the tread pattern; the casing has also been specifically designed for the intended loads. While the front tire features a Kevlar layer, the rear tire is reinforced with a nylon layer. The complete set weighs 1920 grams, with each wheel weighing 1370 grams.
Mavic is also releasing a clothing kit, the HC 125 , which is ergonomically designed and offers excellent moisture management and UV protection. Air mesh inserts are also intended to improve cooling.
The Ksyrium 125 and the HC 125 collection will be available in limited quantities from June. The wheelset, limited to 5000 units worldwide, will cost €1.250, the HC 125 jersey €95, and the HC 125 bib shorts €130. Both jersey and bib shorts will be limited to 3000 units worldwide.
