The Trek Factory Racing Team has denied reports that Fabian Cancellara has already set a date for the hour record attempt. This morning, La Gazzetta dello Sport announced that the Swiss would be chasing the hour on August 3rd, exactly one week after the Tour de France. Aguascalientes in Mexico was named as the place. However, the team have now expressed that the four-time world time trial champion's immediate focus remains on the upcoming spring classics. In 2013 he won both the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.

In addition, it was denied that a location for the world record attempt had already been agreed. In addition to the fast oval in Mexico, the tracks in Palma de Mallorca and Manchester are also up for debate.
