The history of the traditional Italian manufacturer began 80 years ago during a difficult race in the freezing cold with equipment that was anything but ideal. At the beginning of a climb, his fingers stiff and almost numb from the cold, Tullio Campagnolo was struggling to change the rear wheel and cut his hand in the process. At that very moment, losing a race due to technical difficulties, Campagnolo decided to take matters into his own hands to find a better solution. As soon as he got home, he set about tinkering with the world's first quick-release skewer in the back room of his father's shop. Although it really only had to be functional, Campagnolo created an elegant prototype that was both beautiful and revolutionary at the same time. It all happened in 1933, but the same process would be repeated over and over again throughout the company's 80-year history.
In general, three key points can be taken as a focus:
- Identify a need or area for improvement
- Always innovating to find unique and functional solutions.
- Not only focus on the functionality, but also create an elegant product.
This process was started that day in 1933 by Tullio Campagnolo. Since then it has repeated itself hundreds of times. It has become the doctrine that the Campagnolo company follows to this day. Driven by the same passion for cycling that drove Tullio to clock up countless kilometers in grueling conditions, Campagnolo has always put its heart and soul into improving bicycle technology. The passion for cycling led the company to work closely with the best riders, not only to push their performance but also to improve the technique for recreational riders. But the passion for the bicycle in its entirety also led the company to work with the world's best frame manufacturers to find solutions that were both elegant and functional.
This collaboration goes back over 80 years and continues to this day. For this reason, all the stars who have accompanied the company over the past few years were invited to the celebrations. During the arrival of the Giro d'Italia in Vicenza, a big party took place in the company headquarters, in which a large part of the Campagnolo "Family" took part and which you can now review again via video.
