# Abus' Bordo 6000/90 requires relatively little storage space on the frame.
Test: When the editors said we should test a good lock for everyday use, we were sure relatively quickly: That "Bordo" It should be from the German bike lock market leader Abus! But is it as safe and suitable for everyday use as its reputation precedes it?
Looking at the retail price made us wince at first. The lock is proudly priced at 75 euros. That's what this is for "Bordo 6000/90" completely made in Germany, even the steel comes from Germany.
As soon as you unpack the lock, you notice that Abus has thought of various transport options. That's how you can do it "Bordo 6000/90" instead of a bottle holder on the frame, or you can attach it to a place of your choice using the supplied Velcro straps.
# The lock can be easily removed from its holder.
We decided to mount it on the bottle holder. Here, closing the holder when inserting the lock is a bit difficult at first, but the Bordo 6000/90 is well protected from dirt and dust while driving. In addition, it does not wobble in the holder on rough surfaces and does not generate any noise. This is also due to the soft silicone coating, which feels comfortable in the hand, protects the paint on the frame and, probably most importantly, the "picking the lock" successfully defied by ice spray. Even three falls from a height of 120 cm, with different fall angles, did not affect the functionality of the lock.
The "Bordo" combines the security of a solid U-lock with the handy pack size of a spiral lock. That makes sense and has proven to be very practical in our everyday test. The 90 cm long chain link is long enough to connect the bike with the frame to a lantern. If you want to lock the expensive rear wheel as well, you can go for the XXL version, which is 120 centimeters long.
At 1070 grams, the weight is in a range that is tolerable and that you should definitely accept for a secure bike lock.
The Abus Bordo system currently sets the tone in terms of its safety factor. There are a total of 27 Bordo lock variations. Their security levels differ and range between nine and 15. Our test lock has level nine and is characterized by the use of two symmetrical keys. In addition, it has a narrow, low-lying access and therefore offers no handle to thieves.
//Conclusion
If you want a very secure and still practical bike lock, you really can't get past the Bordo. In our opinion, this castle sets standards. Clearly an everyday tip!
