With the versatility of a Swiss pocket knife: Sigma Pocket Tool Large in the test

15 April 2024 by Andrew Waldera

Sigma Pocket Tool Large in the test

Test Minitools: Sigma Sport is one of the world's leading providers in the field of sports electronics. Whether it's a bike computer or bicycle lighting, the products from the company based in Neustadt / Weinstraße are omnipresent. With the Pocket Tool series, the electronics specialist also offers hand tools for quick repairs on the go. As part of our large multitool test series, we chose the largest tool in the series.

Sigma Pocket Tool Large Minitool: Structure and processing

One series, three versions: Small, Medium and Large. The latter contains a total of 22 functions and is therefore one of the most comprehensive tools in our list of the best. When it comes to the individual tools, the Sigma Pocket Tool Large is in no way inferior to a Swiss pocket knife in terms of versatility. In addition to the basic tools, the tool comes with, among other things, two tire levers, a bottle opener and a knife. There is also a brake pad opener, an 8 mm hex key and a chain holder. The quality of the tool also leaves no room for criticism. And the whole thing is available for a fair 39,95 euros. However, we unfortunately have to criticize one point: We are missing the 2 mm version of the Allen keys.

handling

The Sigma Pocket Tool Large Minitool fits well in the hand and the solid, very stable construction allows efficient work. The pleasant grip is facilitated by the pushed-on tire lever, which houses useful tools such as an 8 mm hex wrench or various spoke wrenches on the underside. The tire lever is also part of the chain riveter, which enables a high level of force to be applied when cutting chains. An extremely good solution! In contrast to most of the tools in our best list, the Sigma Tool also has a lockable knife. This makes it easy to shorten TL plugs, for example. The pushed-on cover should ensure cut protection. However, fixing it when folded and completely recessing it inside the frame would give us an even better feeling.
