Test: With the Druckmacher BL, the mail order company ROSE from Bocholt is sending an extremely elegant-looking, well-made floor pump into the race, which is particularly tailored to the needs of racing cyclists, in other words: It should have its strengths in the high-pressure area. In our test, however, the pump turned out to be a suitable all-rounder.
Without exception, everyone who sees the ROSE Druckmacher BL for the first time will probably first examine the handle up close. This is not made of plastic or rubber like the competition, but made entirely of wood. This looks high-quality and is a nice visual contrast to the pump, which is otherwise kept in elegant black. Unfortunately, that was it with the advantages of wood at this point - otherwise the handle is rather uncomfortable and the beautiful look suffers quite quickly in the oily and greasy everyday use of a screwdriver.
The stand is minimalistic, compact but still works very well. We feared that the pump would be a little wobbly because of the small footprint, but the Druckmacher BL taught us better: The foot is cleverly designed and non-slip in the right places - so the pump always stands securely on the ground. The manometer is sufficiently large, but unfortunately the contrast on the dial is poorly chosen and effortless reading is almost impossible when stationary. The pump head is beautifully finished, is made entirely of aluminum and was always tight. The reversible clamping mechanism, which has to be screwed around depending on the valve, is a matter of taste.
In terms of pump performance, the ROSE pump, as the name suggests, puts a lot of pressure on. The piston is beautifully smooth-running and we reach the maximum pressure of an impressive 16 bar effortlessly and with very little effort. Large-volume tires are not the specialty of the BL pressure makers, but if you put up with a few additional strokes, you can also reliably inflate your wide mountain bike tires with air to fill.
