Test: The Syncros FP 2.0, made entirely of aluminum from base to cylinder, is at the upper end of the price range for floor pumps with an RRP of almost €90. In the test, however, the price turns out to be quite justified in view of what is on offer.
The Syncros FP 2.0 first impresses with its very good workmanship. Since the pump does not contain any plastic, it also appears extremely stable and valuable. The handle is sufficiently thick and soft rubberized all around - this means that it can be comfortably gripped even with larger hands and does not hurt even after prolonged use.
The base offers an independent and at the same time functional design - the base is relatively small, but still fulfills its purpose in an exemplary manner. While pumping, the FP 2.0 stands rooted to the ground, at least on softer soils. Syncros does not use any rubber on the underside of the aluminum base. On hard or sensitive floors, a small mat or similar may need to be placed underneath to prevent slipping and scratches. We also find the same shortcoming on the upper side: There was also no slip-reducing coating.
The manometer integrated in the base is big enough, but unfortunately the lettering on the dial is quite small, which makes reading it much more difficult. In practice, the manometer proved to be very accurate and we could not determine any significant deviations. The complex pump head made of green anodized aluminum is not only beautiful, but also works excellently. A clever mechanism inside ensures that the head automatically recognizes the valve used and seals it accordingly. This works absolutely reliably in practice and is of particular interest to those who ride different bikes with different valves.
The pump feeling of the Syncros FP 2.0 is very good. The air piston glides very smoothly, the hand forces are so low that at the beginning of the test we wonder whether the pump is working properly at all - even with tire pressures in excess of 6 bar. With large-volume tires, however, a few additional strokes are necessary with the Syncros . The pump should also be a few cm higher for the taste of our admittedly tall tester. However, the criticism is on a very high level.
