Sporty performance glove: Kinetixx Laurin in the test

22 December 2023 by the editorial office

Kinetixx Laurin

Kinetixx Laurin in the test: The subsidiary brand KinetiXx benefits from 90 years of expertise from its umbrella brand W+R, which produces gloves for the military, police and security organizations, among others. Technically innovative gloves for cycling and other outdoor activities have been offered since 2012. With the Laurin, KinetiXx presents a winter cycling glove.

For a winter glove, the Laurin isn't too bulky. The light lining was combined with Gore-Tex Infinium technology on the backhand. This guarantees a windproof, water-repellent and breathable protective layer. The palm made of Amara synthetic leather has thin and soft foam padding and large silicone prints. The extended knitted cuff combined with a flexible Velcro fastener guarantees an optimal transition to the jacket sleeve. Reflective elements on the backhand and the soft fleece on the wiping thumb round off the glove.

The performance is right!

In the practical test, Laurin proves to be a reliable partner. The high-quality glove is easy to put on and tightened using Velcro. It feels good inside, but due to the light insulation, the seams are noticeable but don't bother you. Thanks to the sporty cut and the flexible material, the glove fits like a glove and still provides enough freedom of movement.

Kinetixx Laurin

When touring on cold days around freezing point, Laurin reliably protects against wind and cold. Even icy winds on longer descents cannot penetrate this protection. The grip on the handlebars is good. The palm of the hand generates sufficient grip and the slight insulation between the hand and the handlebars feels like cotton that only moves slightly. The operation of the brake lever and gear lever also works perfectly. This makes the Laurin also suitable for sporting use on rough passages and lives up to its claim as a sports glove. There are compromises in terms of robustness. During our test drive, the softshell backhand material was slightly damaged when brushing against a bush, but this did not affect the functionality of the glove.

For whom and what purpose is the Kinetixx Laurin suitable

A good balance between insulation layer and feel. This makes the Laurin interesting for sporty drivers in winter. But it is not designed to be robust enough for tough trail use.
