This is the new mode in Team Time Trial
The Amaury Sport Organization, which also organizes the Tour de France, has come up with a new mode for this team time trial at Paris – Nice. So far, the time of the fourth place in a team has always counted for the entire team. It didn't matter whether a driver was sixth and was on the road a minute longer. He, too, has always received the time of the fourth in his team. To bring more action to this competition, each rider now gets their own time and the time of the first counts towards the result of this stage. This meant that the teams put the sprint on their class riders in the last few meters and fell apart much earlier overall. It is not yet known whether the ASO plans to introduce this mode at the Tour de France soon.
