The new Giant Revolt X: Spring-loaded Graveller

14 February 2023 by Florian Nowak

Product news: With the new Giant Revolt X, the well-known manufacturer has equipped its proven Gravel model with front wheel suspension for the first time. The bike should therefore appeal to everyone Riders who are looking for adventure and want to benefit from even more efficiency and control.

Giant Revolt X: new standards for gravel bikes

Giant has been setting new standards with the Revolt for more than ten years when it comes to gravel bikes. As one of the first bikes in this category, the model is one of the pioneers. However, in order to remain up-to-date over time, dThe new "Giant Revolt X" frame set has been further improved and now, for the first time, comes with a suspension fork with 40 mm of travel, which was specially developed for gravel use. As a result, the geometry was also adapted and optimized for the front that was changed by the suspension fork. A slightly longer reach and a higher bottom bracket should also ensure maximum control and control on uneven terrain.

The brake line and the cable for the dropper seat post are routed into the frame at the head tube.
The new Revolt will initially be delivered with SRAM Rival AXS.
One of the changes to the frame geometry is that the head tube is now significantly shorter.

While the 40 mm spring travel at the front should result in a significant increase in comfort, the low, thin seat stays serve to improve the flexibility of the rear triangle of the Giant Revolt X. According to the manufacturer, the necessary rigidity was further improved thanks to an innovative carbon layup become.

A conventional or even D-shaped support can also be mounted instead of the dropper post.
The carbon handlebar should offer improved comfort thanks to its special cross-section.

Maximum comfort and adjustable wheelbase

Additional comfort on the Giant Revolt X is promised by add-on parts such as the "Contact SL XR D-Fuse handlebars as well a standard dropper post. This is actuated by a cable and can be swapped out for a conventional 30,9 mm diameter post or a D-shaped carbon post from Giant. A so-called flip chip ensures versatility in tire width: the wheelbase can be changed by 1 cm and in the "long" position allows tires up to a width of 53 mm, while the maximum tire width in the "short" version is 45 mm lies. In terms of handling characteristics, a longer wheelbase provides more stability, while a shorter wheelbase allows for faster, more agile driving.

The Revolt X is also equipped with Giant's new "Carbon CXR X1" wheel system with wide, more coarsely profiled tubeless tires. The wheel setup provides robustness with minimal weight and the ability to run large volume tires with lower pressure to ensure a smoother ride, better grip and smooth transitions over varied terrain.
