Product news: A light e-racing bike weighing less than 11,5 kilos, with an integrated drive system and powerful battery. wishful thinking? - Not in a long time! Thanks to the innovative hub drive technology of the Mahle X20 system, the Orbea Gain should bring a lot of power and a real racing bike feeling to the road.
The core of the Orbea Gain is the so-called Enough Power concept, which was at the beginning of the development of the Spaniards' e-racing bike. A completely integrated system of power, range and control that offers almost silent, unobtrusive support for a natural driving experience, that was and is the claim. According to the Mahle X20 hub drive, they have found the perfect partner for this. With an output of 55 Nm and a system weight of only 3,2 kilos, the key data is definitely impressive. But the driving behavior was also specially tailored to the overall concept of the Orbea Gain. Thanks to the rear wheel hub, the maximum torque should arrive directly on the road and blend in unnoticed with the natural pedaling process. According to this, you should feel like you're on a conventional bike, but with an additional power boost. For natural handling on the descents, the geometry and stiffness have also been tuned to offer the perfect performance.
We were able to test the Mahle X20 drive on a BMC e-racing bike last summer!
The Orbea Gain offers exceptional range thanks to its two available battery options. The iX350 battery supports up to 4.000 meters of altitude, while the iX250 battery manages up to 2.800 meters, so there is no need to worry about range. If you are still looking for a longer range, you can use the e185 range extender to help. With a weight of only 1,1 kg, a good 20% extra power is added.
At just 11,5 kg, the Orbea Gain is one of the lightest e-road bikes with this battery capacity on the market. With a fully integrated system, this e-road bike looks almost like nothing and retains the typical road bike design. The control is integrated into the top tube for an almost unobtrusive design, while the rear hub is almost completely covered by the cassette and brake discs and thus blends in discreetly.
