Cycling: The Deutschland Tour 2022 is – also according to Fabian Wegmann – absolutely top-class. But in addition to the WorldTour teams Ineos Grenadiers, Jumbo - Visma, Bora - hansgrohe and Co., three German Continental teams are also at the start. During the five-day tour, we will support the Dauner | Accompany intensively. Every evening after the stages we publish an entry in the race diary on Velomotion.
No tour of Germany without Dauner | accon
Founded in 2015, the team has been listed as a UCI Continental Team since 2017. So you have timed exactly the right time. Because on the Germany tour, which was revived in 2018, Dauner | Akkon has always been there ever since. Team leader Philipp Mamos drove for the team himself until a few years ago. Gerald Ciolek and Marco Müller Sciacca act alongside him as sport directors. Which Continental team can claim to employ a winner of a cycling monument? Nevertheless, the Deutschland Tour 2022 will also be a tough challenge for the very young team. If we look at the start list, we see all six drivers from Dauner | Acknowledgment with an asterisk. This means: All count as young drivers and are listed in the corresponding ranking. They are all between 18 and 23. The last few years have been particularly difficult for the youngest among them. Because of the corona pandemic, they were hardly able to gain any racing experience. It will be all the more exciting to listen to their entries in our race diary...

Paul Gehrke: "You know where you want to go"
Today was the first day of the Deutschland Tour, the prologue over 2,6 kilometers. We prepared for it with the team in France for almost seven or eight days. Now it was time. Of course, I was immensely excited before the start. But at the same time, I was dying to finally roll off the launch pad because it's just an incredible experience. I had a similar experience with Rund um Köln … being able to stand next to the really big ones. Sitting next to a Mikkel Bjerg at the start and seeing a Ben Tulett come in and then sit next to you… It's really crazy and it gives you a lot of motivation. I am the second youngest, Noé the youngest. I think you definitely know where you want to go.
"What a Filippo Ganna pulls off on the track..."
To get a little insight and to be able to drive with the big ones is not a privilege given to many and you just appreciate it. Accordingly, one was of course excited and wanted to be better than the really big ones. That's why you definitely gave everything in the prologue. It was only short - I think just over three minutes - but you definitely went deep to get the best possible result. I think we as a team can be satisfied. I was now the best of the team, but that doesn't mean much: 92. And when you see what Filippo Ganna pulls off on the track, it's really crazy, of course. So of course you're really excited to see what's going to happen over the next few days, especially tomorrow, when the first real stage is.
"Many impressions and many cheering spectators"
It gives me motivation. But I have to say that I'm also very excited, of course, and maybe you're even a bit … well maybe not scared … but definitely respect. It was a good first day with many impressions and with many cheering spectators along the route. Hopefully the next few days will continue like this and maybe even get better.
