News: The e-bike has the chance to revolutionize mobility behavior, especially over short distances and in urban areas. In summer and when the weather is good, this is often not a problem. But when it gets cold, wet and uncomfortable, the practicality looks rather modest. With its "Future Mobility Concept", the bicycle manufacturer Canyon now wants to close the gap between cars and e-bikes and thus revolutionize mobility.
When Canyon recently presented its new e-bike models, many were amazed when the people from Koblenz came up with a “Future Mobility Concept” at the end of the presentation. It is supposed to be a “own vision of the urban mobility of tomorrow”. And that's actually it, because the hybrid of e-bike and electric car should not only be usable in wind and weather thanks to the body construction. The vehicle should be allowed to travel on cycle paths as well as on the road at the same time.
Future Mobility Concept – What's behind the concept?
The concept is exciting because the concept design presented has two operating modes. On the one hand, a classic pedelec mode with pedal assistance up to 25 km/h. On the other hand, a "street mode". Top speeds of up to 60 km/h are possible here. The range should be around 150 km. The four-wheeled e-bike, which weighs a good 95 kg, is controlled using two joysticks.
The 1,5-seater has a turning circle of a good 7 meters and has a panoramic glass roof that can be pushed back when the weather is nice. With the option of attaching a child seat, the vehicle is even suitable for driving to daycare. When exactly, and if the first models will roll down our streets, Canyon could not yet say. Anyone who would like to take a look at the device can pay a visit to the Canyon Showroom in Koblenz. The concept design has been on display there since September 1, 2020.
