Now it appears in person Emmanuel Buchman to finally give such a candidate again. The pro from Bora – hansgrohe sensationally finished fourth overall last season. Its development has been progressing rapidly for two years. Now the Ravensburger native wants to take another step forward. But the slightly media-shy wants Emmanuel Buchman give everything in the years to come. The goal is: podium at the Tour de France.
How do you motivate yourself to train during the Corona break?
Emmanuel Buchman: “Now that there is a date for the Tour de France, the motivation is a lot better. And fortunately I can train outdoors in Austria. Most of the time, I just enjoy cycling. That's why I think I'm getting through this challenging time quite well so far."
How do you relax after a tough training session or after intense races?
“Soaking up some sun on the terrace after the weather has been very good lately. And good food of course.”
Can you recommend a good series or movie for our readers?
"No, unfortunately not. But right now I like reading books by Sebastian Fitzek.”
What does your favorite food look like and what are you particularly happy about in the food bag?
“Basically Italian food. And I like our High5 Energy Bars.”
Did you have a role model when you were young?
"I've never had a real role model in cycling, so it's hard for me to name one."
Why is cycling the hottest sport in the world?
“First of all you are in nature, in the mountains. There are simply tremendous backdrops. And then the fans are really close to us. That creates the special atmosphere.”
Do you remember the first race you saw?
"As a child I always followed the Tour de France and of course Jan Ulrich too."
What do you think was the best race of all time?
"Of course the Tour de France 2019 ;-)"
What's your next big goal?
“My goal is the podium at the Tour de France. After rank 4 last year, that's also realistic. But in order to achieve that, I just have to keep improving in general. I have to work on my weaknesses and build on my strengths step by step.”
What tips can you pass on to young up-and-coming drivers?
“It is important to have fun while cycling. It should never be lost. Then you just have to keep at it long enough. The rest will take care of itself.”
