Special shoes for e-trekking bikers: Shimano ET3 and ET5

March 10, 2020 by Andrew Waldera

Product News / E-Performance: With the new Shimano ET3 and ET5 e-trekking shoes, the Japanese component brand is specifically targeting e-bikers who ride both in the city and in the country. The focus in the development of the shoe models was on pedaling without tiring even over long distances, high walking comfort and a reduction in power loss of up to 50%.

Shimano e-trekking bike shoes

Many e-trekking bikers still choose conventional sports and leisure shoes when choosing their shoes. The disadvantage of these shoes is the soft sole, which gradually deforms under stress and thus tires the foot and calf muscles. The new Shimano ET5 and ET3 e-bike touring shoes, on the other hand, have a stiffer midsole, which, according to the manufacturer, is designed to reduce muscle fatigue and thus allow you to pedal longer without tiring. Compared to conventional leisure shoes, Shimano claims a reduction in power loss of up to 50 percent. In addition to the efficient transfer of power to the pedal, the new e-bike shoes should also ensure a natural rolling behavior of the foot when walking.

Shimano ET5 and ET3 : block profile in the toe and heel area for more grip

Both shoe models have a block profile in the toe and heel area to increase grip when going up and down the terrain. Other features of the new e-bike shoes ET5 and ET3 are the protected toe box and reflective details for more visibility in traffic. The Shimano ET5 is available for men in black, red and yellow, while women can choose between elegant gold and fashionable blue. Equipped with the practical mini power strap lacing system, the price is 99,95 euros. The ET3 e-bike touring shoe entry-level model with a classic lacing system is available for women and men in a total of five colors at a price of 79,95 euros.
