Sigma Sport expands sports watch line iD.SERIES: iD.TRI and iD.FREE

September 1, 2019 by Andrew Waldera

Product news: The Neustadt-based manufacturer Sigma Sport is expanding its iD.SERIES line of sports watches with two new models. While the iD.TRI is aimed specifically at triathletes, the iD.FREE presents itself as a multisport watch for various sports. Thanks to the included SnapOn Bike Mount bracket, both watches can also be attached to the handlebars.

Sigma Sport is expanding the sports watch line iD.SERIES. The two new models iD.TRI and iD.FREE impress with a multitude of functions and special features. As the product name suggests, the iD.TRI was specially developed for the triathlon sector. The sports watch for training and competitions has a slim case and therefore also fits under the wetsuit. According to the requirements, the housing is of course waterproof. The iD.FREE multisport watch is a jack of all trades for various sports. Despite the slim design, the sports watch should be extremely robust according to Sigma Sport. Features of this model are the high-resolution mineral glass display, the surrounding protective ring and the stainless steel buttons. For cyclists, both models come with a SnapOn Bike Mount handlebar mount. Both the iD.TRI and the iD.FREE offer connectivity via Bluetooth Smart and ANT+, which makes it easy to connect a smartphone or external sensors such as heart rate, cadence or watt measurement. Both models also come with a USB interface for fast communication with the PC. The software provided free of charge by Sigma Sport allows training to be monitored and data to be evaluated.

iD.TRI and iD.FREE with Smart Light, Crash Alert and 3-axis compass

Both watches are characterized by special features such as the smart light on the lower part of the case. The function supports target zone training with light signals in different colors and also displays turn-by-turn instructions and smart notifications. Other features include GPS measurement, a 3-axis compass, an acceleration sensor and barometric altitude measurement. For heart rate measurement, the watches contain a high-quality PPG sensor for measuring the heart rate on the wrist. The crash alert offers the athlete a plus in terms of safety, which automatically detects a fall and, after a period of inactivity, sends an SMS to a stored emergency contact. The prerequisite for this, however, is that the watch must be connected to the Sigma Link app. The first responders are also shown the most important health data and the current GPS position. Each watch also has special functions that correspond to the requirements. The iD.TRI is available immediately at a price of 179,95 or 249,95 euros as a set with the R1 DUO (heart rate) and R2 DUO COMBO (speed and cadence) transmitter. The iD.FREE sports watch model costs EUR 169,95, the R1 DUO and R2 DUO COMBO transmitters are optionally available.
