Product News / E-Performance: E-bike pioneer Haibike is presenting some new products for the 2020 model year. The biggest innovation in the Haibike E-MTBs 2020 is likely to be the new frame for the SDURO and XDURO series, in which the new Bosch Performance CX is installed in the 4th generation.
Haibike E-MTBs 2020: New frames for XDURO and SDURO
As with almost all E-MTB manufacturers, Haibike also has a lot of news for 2020 - and here, too, the reason lies primarily in the new Bosch Performance CX motor, which is now installed in SDURO and XDURO. Because the size is almost halved, much more compact geometries can be realized and the entire integration can be solved more elegantly.
However, instead of simply taking the existing frame and building a smaller motor mount, Haibike has almost started from scratch and is presenting completely new frames for the two Bosch platforms. What is striking is the already optically recognizable low center of gravity. This is especially good for the handling and lets the bikes lie a whole lot more on the trail. Otherwise, some points were inspired by the Flyon bikes presented last year: The Bosch models not only inherit the new crank, but also the option of attaching rear lights directly to the frame, more precisely to the dropouts.
Also new is the option to mount an additional external battery. This range extender is a conventional 500Wh battery from Bosch that is mounted on the down tube via Haibike's MRS (Modular Rail System). So you get a total of 1.125Wh battery capacity.
Haibike E-MTBs 2020: XDURO 2020
The XDURO models from Haibike will continue to appeal to sporty e-mountain bikers in 2020, for whom the tour is only complete when a trail is under the tires. Accordingly, the models benefit from the new frame with its low center of gravity and the optional range extender helps when there are many meters of altitude to overcome. New for the coming season is the mixed wheel size concept, which will be seen on many E-MTBs: A large 29″ front wheel ensures good rollover behavior and precise line selection, while the thick 27,5″ rear wheel provides plenty of traction on the ground brings - be it when climbing steep ramps or when decelerating on the trail.
The top model of the XDURO AllMtn series relies on a RockShox chassis, consisting of the new Pike Select fork and the Deluxe Select Plus damper. In order to be able to climb steep ramps, one of Shimano's new 7100-speed groupsets is installed with the SLX M12. The MT7 stoppers from Magura grip hard so that the braking power is also right on the way down. The robust DT Swiss H1900 wheels also forgive the occasional bottom out.
500 euros cheaper than the top model with only minor cuts in the equipment: The XDURO AllMtn 3.0 puts together an attractive overall package. The biggest difference to the top model is probably the suspension fork - the damping of the Yari RC cannot quite keep up with the Pike Select of the top model, but with its somewhat more robust construction it tends to be stiffer. The Sram SX Eagle circuit has a little less bandwidth, but in practice the difference should hardly be noticeable; The same applies to the brakes, where the MT5 from Magura is used, which brings almost as much power to the disc as the MT7.

Haibike E-MTBs 2020: SDURO 2020
Oh, the SDUROs, which are a bit tamer compared to the sporty XDURO series, naturally get the new Bosch CX motor and with it the new frame; the geometry is a little more moderate, the bikes offer a lot of comfort and safety, so that even less experienced riders feel comfortable - and not overwhelmed. In contrast to the XDURO models, Haibike continues to choose the traditional way when it comes to wheel sizes - it's nice that buyers are still spoiled for choice between the nimble 27,5″ wheels or the smooth-running 29ers. The 29er variant, the SDURO FullNine, has 140mm of travel at the front and rear, while the SDURO FullSeven LT with 27,5″ has 160 at the front and 150mm at the rear.
