Cycling: up & down and up & down - that was the motto of the Giro d'Italia in the past few days. It won't get any easier this week until the end on Sunday. Only tomorrow are the classification drivers allowed to catch their breath. For the last time in this Tour of Italy, the sprinters are on the train.
Velomotion prognosis: Ackermann vs. Démare
At 12:00 tomorrow the pros will get on their bikes in Valdaora/Olang. For the first time in many days, no mountain stage awaits them. There is no less than 222,0 kilometers to go to Santa Maria di Sala, but most of them are downhill. Only in the middle of the stage is there a mountain in the fourth category, the Pieve di Alpago. However, it will not cause any problems for the sprinters, so we can expect a mass sprint at the finish between 17:00 and 17:30. The Bora – hansgrohe and Groupama – FDJ teams will be particularly interested in this Pascal Ackermann or Arnaud Demare still have top sprinters in their ranks. Under normal circumstances, they should again decide the stage win among themselves. After his fall a few days ago, however, the German champion is considered an outsider compared to the French.
☆☆☆ Arnaud Demare (Groupama – FDJ)
* * Pascal Ackermann (Bora – hansgrohe), Davide Cimolai (Israel Cycling Academy)
* Manuel Belletti (Androni Giocattoli – Sidermec), Ryan Gibbons (Dimension Data), Simone Consonni (UAE Team Emirates)
