MTB News: The Thömus/RN Swiss Bike Team is starting the new season with a few changes and an adjusted team name. The commitment of mountain bike U23 world champion Alessandra Keller and World Cup winner Mathias Flückiger remains unchanged. The contract with Kathrin Stirnemann was also extended.
Shortly before the turn of the year, the Thömus/RN Swiss Bike Team, which is starting under a new name, is presenting the innovations for the coming season. With a view to the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, the team name was changed - previously known as Thömus/RN Racing Team. Team owner Ralph Näf is very pleased about the extension of the contracts. U23 World Champion Alessandra Keller and World Cup winner Mathias Flückiger will start in the jersey of the Thömus/RN Swiss Bike Team until the 2020 Olympic season. Also on board is the 2014/2017 XCE World Champion Kathrin Stirnemann. The squad, spoiled by success, is reinforced by the young talents Vital Albin and Ursin Spescha in the U23 category.
"I am very pleased that we were able to extend the contracts with Kathrin, Alessandra and Mathias. After last year's very successful season, there were numerous offers from other teams. This great commitment to the team gives us a lot of motivation for our chosen path to Tokyo!” – Team owner Ralph Näf
Title and bike sponsor Thömus is also extending its commitment to the Swiss mountain bike team until 2020. The former head of competitive sports at Swiss Cycling Roland Richner and Marcel Kurattli will set up a professional structure within the team from junior age. With his junior team "Thömus/RN Young Stars", Kurattli enables talented young people to enter racing operations that are independent of the club and their parents. With the Sports Academy Solothurn, Roland Richner ensures a comprehensive range of support from school, education, training, high-quality sports facilities and sports medicine.
