Cycling: Fire at Part #2 of the Tour de France in the Alps. Anyone who has lost time today can correct the situation directly tomorrow. Time gaps between the favorites are to be expected at the first mountain finish. In our Tour de France preview we look at the eleventh stage.
Tour de France preview of the 11th stage: Excitement from zero kilometer
Brevity is the soul of wit. Albertville to La Rosière is tomorrow only 108,5 kilometers to be completed. However, they have it all. Same two mountains of the highest category waiting for the drivers. The Montée de Bisanne and the Col du Pré will push the riders to their limits early in the day. The Cormet de Roselend is followed by the nearly 18-kilometer final climb up to La Rosière. While it's on the today tenth stage After the last ascent, the finish line for tomorrow was placed on top of the summit. To the first mountain finish of the Tour de France 2018 to be able to win, the driver must quickly switch from 0 to 100 can. The day will not only be tough for the classification drivers and their helpers, but especially for the sprinters. In our Tour de France preview, we think it's quite possible that prominent riders from the time limit fall.
- 82,5km to go: Montee de Bisanne (highest category / 12,4 km at 8,2%)
- 51,0km to go: Col du Pre (highest category / 12,6 km at 7,7%)
- 38,5km to go: Cormet de Roselend (2rd category / 5,7 km at 6,5%)
- Final ascent/mountain arrival: La rosière (1rd category / 17,6 km at 5,8%)
Velomotion prognosis: Adam Yates is the final climb to La Rosière
In the 2018 Tour de France, the ski station in La Rosière is the scene of the first mountain finish. The 17,6-kilometer final ascent only has an average gradient of 5,8 percent, but thanks to the short stage there will be a lot of action even before this mountain. In the final ascent itself, the day's winner is then determined and of course also a good position in the overall ranking. It should be noted that the beginning and the end of the mountain are the easiest sections. There will therefore be attacks in the middle part. We're expecting a ranking rider to win this final 17,6-kilometre climb. Since the final ascent tends to flatten out at the end, we are not assuming a solo winner, but a group of favourites. Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) should be in top form and should be able to keep up with the opponents. Also, he is in an uphill sprint along with Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) probably the strongest.
***Adam Yates
** Alejandro Valverde, Daniel Martin
* Chris Froome, Mikel Landa, Romain Bardet
