racing bikes: First Ride: Ghost Road Rage Fire 6.9

July 6, 2018 by Florian Nowak

Product news: With the Ghost Road Rage Fire 6.9, Ghost recently expanded its Road Rage product range with a new gravel bike that is intended to fill the gap between racing bikes and mountain bikes. The Ghost Road Rage Fire is much more than just a stopgap, it is intended to lead a new generation of adventure bikes. We were able to do the first laps with the gravel racer at the Eurobike Media Days.

With the Ghost Road Rage Fire you're ready for anything, whether it's off the beaten track or on
roads or simply on the usual routes. This is how the new gravel racer was presented to us. Of course we couldn't resist putting the whole thing to the test.

What is immediately noticeable are the extremely wide tires compared to most other gravel bikes, with a width similar to that of common MTB tires. In conjunction with the robust wheels, you have a very good grip and great comfort on rough gravel roads and uneven sections, as these things can take and absorb quite a lot of impacts.

While the smooth and stiff carbon frame provides propulsion, its flexible seat stays and chainstays also contribute to driving comfort, which is worth its weight in gold, especially on exploration tours. Despite the robust construction and the solid attachments, you don't have to worry too much when it comes to mountains, because the Ghost Road Rage Fire has first-class climbing properties.

In addition to the high-quality frame, the Sram Rival also plays its part and offers a good gradation for a wide variety of terrains. The large discs offer increased safety so that you can concentrate on the ride in peace. Because the Ghost Road Rage Fire is primarily about having a bike that you can just sit on and start riding.

Everyone who likes to explore new paths, over rocks and roots and wants to discover nature, is in the right place here. It doesn't matter whether you're on a paved road or a gravel road with the Ghost Road Rage Fire you can really get through almost anywhere. We found the versatility of the gravel racer particularly convincing, which in our opinion is particularly inviting for heating on gravel. So if you like to drive on forest roads and want to really let it rip, you should take a closer look at the Ghost Road Rage Fire.

For those who can't be stopped on their rides and drive so far and long until it gets dark, there is enough space to stow your things, such as luggage and tent, so that you can camp right next to the bike. Thanks to numerous holders for panniers and bottles, every part has its place and everything can be securely attached to the Ghost gravel bike. For this reason, all trains and cables are routed inside, nothing gets caught or rubs, but simply looks clean and tidy.

Conclusion: Ghost Road Rage Fire 6.9

More than Florian Nowak

Florian Nowak is a professional cyclist at the EuropeTour level and has competed in many international races. At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
