MTB News: Under the motto "Send it to the Moon", the Audi Nines MTB Freeride Festival is coming to the Hunsrück for the first time in September. The spectacle will be staged in a quarry near Birkenfeld. An address that ambitious riders should remember: The Idarkopf Bike Park will open in 2019.
The Audi Nines MTB 2018 will be held in cooperation with the new Bikepark Idarkopf, which with a total length of 23 kilometers is to become Germany's largest bike park. According to the motto "by riders for riders", Patrick Schweika from Koblenz and Sam Reynolds from Brit as well as the two Austrians Andi Brewi and Clemens Kaudela from Balzamico Trail Design are responsible for the event route construction. From 20th to 8th September 13, the world's 2018 best freeriders and slopestylers can expect a tough course with a total of 14 spectacular elements. This combines a freeride line with huge obstacles and a complete slopestyle course full of drops, jumps and hips.
Film and photo sessions are at the forefront of the event concept. Numerous international mountain bike stars will take breathtaking pictures at the extraordinary location. The riders include Nicholi Rogatkin (USA), Emil Johansson (SWE), Sam Pilgrim (GBR), Szymon Godziek (POL), Adolf Silva (ESP), Diego Caverzasi (ITA), Geoff Gulevich (CAN) and Fabio Wibmer (AU). The German MTB stars Nico Scholze, Tobi Wrobel and Lukas Knopf are also present at the super session. This is also where they meet the winners of the “FOCUS Become a Nine” online video contest, where young talents can now apply to take part in the event. The closing date for the “FOCUS Become a Nine” online video contest is August 15, 2018.
