Test: With the Scott Addict RC Disc and the Scott Foil Disc, we have had two racers in our test over the past few weeks that not only differ in appearance, but also in their overall performance. With our comparison, we would like to give you an understanding of the advantages of each bike so that you have the perfect bike for your personal requirements and areas of use.
Scott Addict RC Disc and Scott Foil Disc – The Similarities
Let's start with the similarities first. This can clearly be found in the equipment of both models, because both the Scott Addict RC Disc and the Scott Foil Disc are equipped with a high-quality Shimano Ultegra Di2 that has been proven in numerous tests.
With both racers it is immediately noticeable that the cable routing is very nicely designed and tidy. We've thought about the details of both bikes. Thumbs up for that! In addition, the connection for the charging cable for the electronic Di2 shifter is hidden in the handlebar plug on both bikes. This connection is not only extremely inconspicuous but also always easy to reach for easy charging of the battery.

Of course, we find another thing in common, as the name already tells us, with the discs. The Shimano BR-R8070 Hyd 160 mm discs are used on both the Foil and the Addict RC. A small special feature of the Scotts are the in-house attachments and wheels from Synchros. The bike manufacturers' own brands are often classified as cheap or even bad, but we can by no means say that about the Synchros parts. On both bikes, the seat post, saddle, handlebars, stem, headset and the wheels are made in-house. Here, too, a few thoughts were put into the construction and the add-on parts were tailored to the respective area of use of the bikes. For example, the Scott Foil Disc has a slightly different stem and seat post that fit better into the aerodynamic concept of the frame.
The wheels are Syncros RP 2.0, which were very convincing due to their stability and good rolling characteristics. The very comfortable Continental Grand Sport Race Fold with a width of 28mm sits on top of it, which has an incredibly strong influence on the driving experience. On the one hand, the extra width gives you significantly more comfort on bad surfaces, on the other hand, the driver gets a more comfortable feeling on descents and corners and therefore drives more safely.
Scott Addict RC Disc and Scott Foil Disc - The differences
If both racers are equipped almost completely identical from head to toe, it stands to reason that the main difference can be found in the frame. Of course you can influence the setup and the performance of a bike extremely with the various add-on parts, but the frame is the heart that sets the tone.
On the one hand, with the Scott Addict RC 15 Disc we have a racer that feels at home on mountainous terrain and can play to its strengths in steep passages. The Scott Foil 10 Disc, on the other hand, is around 300 grams heavier due to its aerodynamic shape, but is also more streamlined. Both frames are made of high-quality HMF carbon, which skilfully combines stiffness and light weight.
In addition to the general frame shape, the clearest differences can be seen in the rear triangle and the fork. For example, the rear end of the Scott Foil Disc is slightly lower and the fork almost seems to merge with the frame to offer better aerodynamics. Extra fairings were also formed at the lower end of the fork to better direct the wind past the axle.
With the Scott Addict RC, on the other hand, everything is kept very minimalistic and in a more classic form in order to gain the decisive advantage in terms of weight.
Scott Addict RC Disc and Scott Foil Disc – The Comparison
Of course, in order to be able to make a real comparison of the two bikes, we had to move them a few kilometers. And you can clearly say you feel a difference, both on the mountain and on the descents, when accelerating or simply on fast passages on the flat. Every bike speaks its own language and therefore rides quite differently. Actually very interesting, since both racers have a very similar race geometry.
Scott Addict RC Disc and Scott Foil Disc – wattage comparison with SRM power meter
In order to be able to confirm our feeling with a few data, we decided to let the bikes compete against each other in two segments. The first a 10 km flat section, the second segment a 3 km climb. We measured with an SRM PC8 and an SRM power meter, one of the most correct and precise power meters on the market. Of course, this is not a XNUMX% accurate and highly scientific test under laboratory conditions, but it gives a nice impression of how much a different frame with the same setup affects the overall performance.
Our test consisted of driving both segments with an average power of exactly 350 watts and looking at the times at the end. On the 10-kilometer flat section we reached with the Scott Foil Disc a time of 13:46 mins and with that Scott Addict RC Disc a time of 14:13 mins. On the mountain, however, the Scott Addict RC Disc was faster and covered the 3-kilometer climb in 8:27, while the Scott Foil Disc needed 8:42 min. In the overall performance you can say that the foil disc has a slightly better tendency. The Addict RC Disc is probably the perfect companion for riders who mainly go on mountainous day tours with plenty of altitude difference, as you can save a lot of energy here.
Scott Addict RC Disc and Scott Foil Disc – The driving experience
In addition to the pure performance on the segments, the driving experience and the impression on the road is at least as important as the measured values. With the Addict RC, you have the feeling of being on the road in a very sporty way, as acceleration is incredibly easy. With the foil, on the other hand, you need a few more kicks to get the device up to speed, but once it starts rolling, it really rolls. Especially in slightly sloping sections you can just start driving and really speed up. Even flatter climbs are very comfortable to ride with the Foil, but when it gets steeper you should rely on the Addict RC, because especially when pedaling uphill you have the feeling that every step is transferred directly to the road and you are not burdened by unnecessary weight is stopped. This feeling is also generally confirmed while riding, as the Addict RC is simply a bit more direct than the Foil, which offers a little more comfort thanks to the lowered rear end.
Since we initially asked the question "Who can do it better" in such a provocative way, we naturally wanted to answer it. The correct question should be "Who can do what better", because the Scott Foil Disc and the Scott Addict RC Disc are two racers that are very different. As our test has shown, the terrain has a decisive influence on the choice of bike, so it must be said that with the Scott Addict RC Disc you have a bike for many meters of altitude and steep passages, which acts very directly. The Scott Foil Disc, on the other hand, can fully show its strengths on fast sections.
