Test Scott Addict Gravel 30: Gravel racer with all-round character

21 November 2022 by Florian Nowak

Test: As a beginner in the Addict Gravel model series, the Scott Addict Gravel 30 with a high-quality carbon frame, balanced, sporty geometry and mechanical Shimano GRX 2-speed gears offers everything you could wish for from a sporty gravel bike with all-round character. We had the gravel bike in our test.

From crosser to gravel bike

While Scott's gravel bikes were still very reminiscent of the cyclocross models until the beginning of 2021, everything changed in one fell swoop and the entire lineup has changed and the off-road DNA of the brand has also been included in this area. The biggest update that resulted from this was of course the frame with its shapes and geometry, which is still sporty but much more balanced and therefore also invites you to relaxed rides or exploration tours. The fact that the race genes have not been completely forgotten is shown by the shapes and features shaped by aerodynamic racing bikes, such as aero seat posts or fully integrated lines.

The frame, which shines in a matt green finish, looks extremely high-quality and adapts very well to the dark tones of the forest and nature. In our opinion, in any case, a simple eye-catcher that knows how to convince.

A clean look without visible cables and trains is now standard on the Scott gravel bike.
The D-shaped seat post is at least a little reminiscent of the aerodynamic Scott road bikes.

Scott Addict Gravel 30 – Sporty all-rounder in the test

What already looks like a good station wagon is also confirmed when driving. Because with its sporty character, the Addict Gravel 30 invites you to step on the gas over long distances and rolls skilfully over hill and dale or even asphalt. Nevertheless, it is not afraid to drive there in a relaxed manner and to offer you the necessary balance and the corresponding comfort.

With the Scott Addict Gravel 30 you have everything under control even on brisk downhills.

Thanks to the 2-speed Shimano GRX gear system, you also get enough range to face steeper challenges, even if you can already feel the good 9 kilos on the carbon beginner from Scott. If you're going downhill again after the work is done, everything you need is offered, from precise handling and smooth running to good comfort.

The mechanical 2x Shimano GRX shifting group not only offers a wide range...
...and robust shifting performance, but also fits perfectly with the overall concept of the bike.

If you want to embark on longer excursions or multi-day tours, the Scott Gravelbike offers the right platform in this area as well. At less than 3000 euros, the Addict Gravel 30 is an extremely high-quality all-rounder that is available for everything.

But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
