Product news / E-MTB: Nicolai has the new E-MTB ION G16 Eboxx in her luggage at the Berlin Bicycle Show. We were already allowed to take a look at the E-Enduro and some of its exciting detailed solutions.
Not a new announcement in and of itself, but the Lower Saxony bicycle manufacturer Nicolai still had a world first in its luggage at the Berlin Bicycle Show: the first production-ready and ready-to-ride ION G16 Eboxx E-MTB. It was announced last year and you could already admire prototypes at various trade fairs and events - but these still came to a large extent from the 3D printer and various details were far from being ready for series production.

But now the time has come: The Nicolai ION G16 Eboxx is ready and can already be tested. There are currently three of the beefy E-MTBs in Nicolai's test fleet - anyone who is interested in purchasing them can use the new sales concept #localtestride: Simply make an appointment with one of the three German representatives and they will come to you with the bike in their luggage home, where you can then really test the bike on your own home trails. For free.

But now to the bike itself: As the name suggests, the new electric bullet is based on the well-known G16: With 170mm of spring travel at the front and 160mm at the rear, a correspondingly robust and potent equipment and thick plus tires, it is aimed at endurists out there and all those who are undeterred by challenging terrain. The Nicolai E-MTB is powered by a Bosch Performance CX motor with a PowerTube 500 battery that disappears completely in the beefy down tube of the G16 Eboxx. But if you want to swap the empty battery for a full one on a longer ride, that's no problem either: A quick turn of the key in the lock and the energy storage can be completely removed from the down tube.

Speaking of the battery: A thick plastic protection has been attached to its underside, which protects the cells inside from rocks and debris thrown up. This detail clearly shows the alignment of the 160 E-Fully; The milling artists also give their new "baby" a chain guide that they have designed themselves, which keeps the chain firmly on the chain ring of the Bosch CX drive even with heavy rumble and despite the low wrap.

The prices for the Nicolai ION G16 Eboxx start at €6.699 - this techline version has a RockShox chassis consisting of Lyrik RCT3 at the front and Monarch Plus at the rear, DT Swiss wheels, MT5 brakes and Magura and a SRAM GX 11- fold circuit.
