Product news: Advent calendar #18: Complete Acros cockpit for mountain bikes

17 December 2017 by the editorial office

Acros Gothic Bar Alu and stem with 35mm clamp

The German component and accessory manufacturer Acros has also had handlebars and stems in its range for some time. The 780mm wide aluminum gothic bar is one of those parts that you can confidently put under the motto "install and forget". At 320g, it's not exactly lightweight, but it does (almost) everything that hard everyday mountain biking has in store. Thanks to the 35mm clamp, it is also a good deal stiffer than handlebars with a 31.8mm clamp. With 8° backsweep and 5° upsweep it is average and offers buyers a familiar geometry. The handlebar is available with 15 and 25mm rise.

Acros also has a stem with a 35mm clamp in its portfolio. Available in lengths from 40 to 90mm, it can stand out from the competition mainly due to its very large clamping area. As a result, the handlebar sits very firmly with a comparatively low torque and point loads are avoided - an advantage that should not be underestimated, especially with sensitive carbon handlebars. At 132g (in 50mm), the stem is also extremely light.

Acros enduro grips

As one of only three (only two when standing) contact points between bike and rider, the grips play a role in terms of a comfortable ride that should not be underestimated. The enduro grips from Acros are based on the proven A-Grips lockring grips, but come with the medium-soft rubber compound, which on the one hand provides grip and comfort, but does not lose sight of durability. The 130mm wide handles weigh 118g.
