Clothing: Test: Adidas Zonyk Aero Pro - Vario lenses and individual fit

4 October 2017 by Florian Nowak

Test: The Adidas Zonyk Aero Pro offers some variety in our test field with a vario filter. Even if the technology cannot completely replace interchangeable lenses in this case, the function is very pleasant. A real highlight are the angle-adjustable temples, which strongly influence the fit. Unfortunately, the removable sweat blocker feels quite uncomfortable.

Adidas Zonyk Aero Pro Glass

The glasses of the Zonyk are one of the few glasses with a vario filter that automatically tints depending on the sunlight. This effect works relatively well, but in this case it does not completely replace an interchangeable lens. However, the vario effect is very pleasant in light and shadow passages, since you no longer have any major difficulties with the view here. Bonus points are given for corrective lens compatibility, which should make life a little easier for those who wear prescription glasses. Otherwise, the view is pretty good, the field of vision is nice and wide and is only slightly disturbed by the nose pad.

Adidas Zonyk Aero Pro Fit

The temples fit snugly on the head, and the rubber surfaces on the inside of the temples help prevent them from slipping. However, when worn for a long time, the brackets over the ears can sometimes press a little. But the glasses are always held in position. We found the sweat protection, which was actually supposed to improve comfort, to be unpleasant. Unfortunately, this presses uncomfortably on the forehead. Good that it can be removed quickly and easily. The nose pads are very comfortable and stay in place even when you sweat, but the pad and connector block your view a bit. A great feature are the angle adjustments on the temples. They can be tilted up or down in three steps, thus influencing the angle of the lenses. The mechanism works properly and does not wobble uncomfortably when driving.

Adidas Zonyk Aero Pro – Packaging & Accessories

The Zonyk Aero Pro comes with a simple packaging in the classic Adidas hard case. In addition to a cleaning cloth, replacement nose pads are also included, which can be easily replaced.

More than Florian Nowak

Florian Nowak is a professional cyclist at the EuropeTour level and has competed in many international races. At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
