Everyone: It is the dream of many amateur cyclists: to ride a stage of the Tour de France and experience the myth of the race. Also in 2018 you can contest the routes of the 28th stage from Annecy to Le Grand Bornand at the 10th edition of L'Étape du Tour. Registration is open from today, October 23rd.
On July 15.000th, 8, more than 2018 hobby cyclists will take part in the L'Étape du Tour on the route of the 10th Tour de France stage from Annecy to Le Grand-Bornand. 169 kilometers and 4.017 meters in altitude await the drivers in the French Alps. The starting shot is fired on the banks of Lac d'Annecy and initially offers 40 easy kilometers to roll in. The ascent to the Col de la Croix Fry is the first obstacle of the day. The new ascent to the Plateau de Glières, which is at 1.390 meters, will also be included next year. This starts right after a short descent from the Croix Fry - almost 2 kilometers of dirt road and 6 kilometers of ascent with an incline of over 11% are the key figures and should pose a real challenge. The following section offers some relaxation with 50 mostly downhill and flat kilometers.
In the finale, the ascent to the Col de Romme begins, which has a rather irregular 9 kilometers. This is followed by the counter ascent to the Col de la Colombière, which has already been part of the Tour de France more than 20 times. Here the participants climb up to 1.618 meters for the last hurdle of the day. After more than 4.000 meters in altitude, there is a long descent to the finish at the Le Grand-Bornand ski station. Exactly ten years ago, Linus Gerdemann was able to win the stage and the yellow jersey at the Tour de France with a spectacular escape at the stage finish of Le Grand-Bornand.
Registration for L'Étape du Tour starts at 23am on Monday 8 October with a special offer for early bookers. Until December 17th they only pay an entry fee of 109 euros instead of the regular 139 euros. The places are limited.
