MTB cycling: Only one week after the race in Vallnord/Andorra, the downhill riders were allowed to start in Lenzerheide. France's Myriam Nicole and South Africa's Greg Minnaar each clinched their second World Cup win of the current season.
In front of thousands of fans, the downhill riders rocked the STRAIGHTline in the Lenzerheide Bike Park in the best summer weather. The men's race turned into an exciting thriller between World Cup leader Greg Minnaar, Troy Brosnan and Aaron Gwin. Greg Minnaar set the best time, which Troy Brosnan missed just 0,162 seconds. However, Aaron Gwin's run could have completely messed up the order again. After the last split, the American was ahead by an incredible 1,5 seconds, but then he suffered a flat tire on the rear wheel. The podium was completed by Danny Hart from Great Britain.
Myriam Nicole was able to win again in the women's category on the demanding course in Lenzerheide. The Frenchwoman had already won in Vallnord/Andorra just a week earlier, but now there was reason to celebrate again – especially since she has now taken the overall lead. Rachel Atherton from Great Britain was second, Emilie Siegenthaler from Switzerland took third place in front of her home crowd. Tracey Hannah, who finished fourth in Lenzerheide, was relegated to second place overall by Myriam Nicole. It remains exciting!
