With the new Cannondale Synapse models, the US manufacturer wants that Taking the endurance riding experience to a new level. The 2018 model of the Synapse was specially developed for riders who want to push the limit for longer periods of time, offering them more comfort and improved performance on all terrains.
With the help of various features and improvements, the new Cannondale Synapse could be made even lighter, stiffer and more comfortable. To increase performance and improve the racing characteristics of this endurance machine, the 2018 Synapse has been lightened and stiffened compared to previous models. The frame alone weighs 220 grams less, which promises better acceleration and better performance on the mountain. In terms of rigidity, too, they want to reach the next level: rigidity increases of up to 10% at the head tube and bottom bracket could be achieved with an asymmetrical frame design in order to withstand the forces of disc brakes and pedaling even more effectively.
In addition, with the size-optimized construction of the frame, the tube diameter and carbon fiber layering are adjusted depending on the frame size. The new Synapse goes one step further in terms of size optimization and offers three different diameters for the steerer tube/steerer tube and three different fork bends. So each size has appropriate front stiffness and consistent steering feel across all sizes. The possible tire mounting width of up to 32 mm shows how seriously the issue of endurance is taken.
With the so-called SAVE micro-suspension system including the new SAVE SystemBar and the seat post from the same series, the new Synapse is a real endurance machine. SAVE micro-spring technology has been at the core of the Synapse design since its introduction in 2006. Specially developed flex zones in the frame and fork dampen vibrations and impacts, so that the riders always sit comfortably and remain in control, even on uneven surfaces. Other SAVE features also include the chainstays, seatstays and fork legs, which are complemented by a 25,4 mm SAVE seat post and the new stem-handlebar combination called SAVE SystemBar. The result is a comprehensive system that protects the driver from impacts, but does not take away from the feel of the road. So that nothing gets mixed up in the cockpit, the new handlebar is equipped with a detachable mount that can accommodate both a Garmin and a Fabric Lumaray light.
The two-part system with the look of a one-piece suit offers the rider the opportunity to precisely adjust their seating position with interchangeable stem lengths and an 8-degree tilt angle setting, because the riding position is extremely important, especially on long distances such as in endurance riding.
The Cannondale Synapse is also equipped with discreet mudguard holders. Other impressive features include front and rear thru-axles, easy-to-adjust flat-mount disc brakes, and the Synapse's intelligent cable duct, which allows for clean, modular routing and accommodates everything from Bowden cables to eTap to Di2. With its unique blend of pro racing performance, off-road capability and everyday comfort, the new Synapse offers a superior and exhilarating riding experience on any surface, from smooth asphalt to bumpy dirt roads. It's a real endurance machine.
The Cannondale Synapse will be available in 18 models, including four women's models, ranging in price from €1199 - €9999.
