News in brief: For the second time in the history of the Tour de France, the 2019 Grand Boucle will start in Brussels. The last time the Belgian capital hosted the Grand Départ was in 1958. 2019 will also be another anniversary year for the Tour of France: 100 years earlier the Maillot Jaune celebrated its premiere and 50 years earlier Eddy Merckx won his first tour.
After Düsseldorf this year and Vendée Pays de la Loire next year, the Grand Départ in 2019 is moving to one of the cycling countries par excellence, Belgium. In the capital, Brussels, riders will set out in pursuit of the yellow jersey, which was introduced in 1919, 100 years earlier. The tour has already been a guest in Brussels ten times, once for the Grand Départ in 1958. The OSA has not yet announced any details about the start - this should probably be expected towards the end of the year.
