MTB cycling: After the end of the SSES (Specialized-Sram Enduro Series), there is finally good news for German Enduro riders: The German MTB Enduro Championship will be held in Upland on May 21 as part of the Ziener Bike Festival Willingen. The organizer and the Federation of German Cyclists have agreed on this.

The awarding of the German MTB Enduro Championship to Willingen is also a very important signal for cycling. The BDR is still sticking to the enduro racing format, which means that the positive development of this still relatively young sport format can be further promoted. Despite the new venue of the event, the previous procedure remains unchanged. The field of riders is divided into the classes Elite Men, Elite Women, Pro Masters, Open Men, Open Women and Open Junior Male. A valid license from the UCI is required to enroll in the Elite Men, Elite Women or Pro Masters classes. Riders without a license can compete in Open Men, Open Women or Open Junior Male classes depending on gender and age. The SCOTT Upland Enduro is therefore still open to all riders. The riders can look forward to six flowing stages, a total distance of around 35 kilometers and a total of 1400 meters in altitude. Registration for the enduro race opens on March 7th, the registration fee is EUR 60,00 per participant. Training will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9.00:14.00 a.m. to 7.30:XNUMX p.m. The starting gun for the race will be on Sunday at XNUMX:XNUMX a.m.
Already on Friday, May 19, 2017, the Ziener Bike Festival Willingen opens the gates for bike fans from all over the world. Around 150 exhibitors and 300 brands will present their latest products at the exhibition center and around 35.000 visitors are expected. Admission to the fair is free. In addition to the Mountainbike Enduro DM, Willingen is also the venue for the Rocky Mountain Bike Marathon and a run for the iXS European Downhill Cup as part of the festival.
