MTB cycling: As part of the Scott Upland Enduro race, German championship honors will also be contested on Sunday. The two reigning title holders Raphaela Richter (Radon Factory DH Racing) and Christian Textor (Team Bulls) are traded as the top favorites for victory. The backdrop for the spectacle is the Bike Festival Willingen.
Next Sunday, the German MTB Enduro Championship will be held for the first time in the history of the Bike Festival in Willingen. The riders have to get up early on Sunday, the race starts at 7:30 am. Free practice is scheduled for Saturday (9:00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m.). The main focus is on Raphaela Richter and Christian Textor, who were able to win the DM titles in Schöneck last year. Even if the defending champions are considered the top favourites, the race will certainly not be a sure-fire success for the two starters given the strong competition.
Raphaela Richter will have to assert herself against Franziska Meyer (Ghost Factory Racing RIOT-Team) and Ines Thoma (Canyon Factory Enduro Team). Franziska Meyer is the German champion of the year 2015, but was thrown back last year due to a collarbone fracture. Ines Thoma switched from cross country racing to enduro racing and crowned this change in 2014 by winning the German MTB Enduro Championship. Among others, Erik Irmisch (Team Racing Dudes) and Felix Heine (Team InFocus) are waiting for Christian Textor.
