MTB News: 25 years after the World Championships in Kirchzarten, the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in the Olympic cross-country discipline will finally take place on German soil again in 2020. With the decision of the world cycling association UCI for Albstadt, the long period of preparation for those responsible in the Swabian Jura has come to a positive end.
The decision of the UCI in Bieles / Luxembourg was announced on the sidelines of the Cyclo-Cross World Championships. Both Albstadt's Lord Mayor Klaus Konzelmann and his delegation as well as Skyder Sportpromotion Agency Managing Director Stephan Salscheider were there. Since 2005, Skyder Sportpromotion has been working in association with the RSG Zollernalb for the interests of regional and national mountain bikers. In addition to the German Cross-Country Championships and the Gonso Albstadt Classic, Albstadt was already the venue for the World Cup in 2013. Those responsible for the World Championships in the Bullental on the Swabian Jura worked for more than ten years and had to endure a long wait of three years. Two years ago, the 2016 World Cup was targeted, but here the decision was made in favor of the strong opponent Nove Mesto na Morave / Czech Republic. But in three years the time has finally come: The date from June 25th to 28th, 2020 in Albstadt is set!
