Specialized S-Works: A real highlight awaits you in 2017 in our advent calendar. With the Specialized S-Works Prevail II, one of the currently best racing bike helmets is up for grabs.
What seemed unthinkable 15 years ago is now finally a reality: Sporty cycling, whether on the trail or on the road, and wearing a helmet now belong together. Fortunately, the question of the sense and nonsense of protective headgear no longer arises, but it is all the more tricky to find the right model for your own area of application.
In addition to its protective effect, a bicycle helmet has to fulfill a multitude of other functions and the right balance is often difficult for designers to find: it should be light, well ventilated and of course comfortable and flexible to adapt to your own head shape. The Specialized S-Works Prevail II helmet seems to meet all these requirements - not too surprising, after all, the top model from the Californian manufacturer also has to prove itself at the highest level, namely the WorldTour.
The "basic structure" of the S-Works Prevail II consists of an aramid-reinforced cage, which is incorporated into dual-density EPS foam. In this way, the designers were able to keep the weight low (approx. 185g in size M), but impact protection and safety at the usual high level. The huge Mega-Mouthport ventilation opening on the front, in combination with the m 4th Dimension air duct system, ensures a pleasant climate even on hot days. Thanks to the versatile adjustable strap system with micro-ratcheting, the S-Works Prevail II can also be adapted to almost any head shape.
