Market / E-Performance: The BMW Cruise e-Bike is being released in a special edition limited to just 300 units in the special color Protonic Dark Silver. This is the very color in which the special edition of the BMW i8 hybrid sports car was presented at the Paris Motor Show. Technically, however, everything remains the same on the e-bike powered by a Bosch Performance motor.
The BMW Cruise e-Bike recently received a comprehensive technical and visual facelift for the 2016 model year. The in-house Designworks Studio is responsible for the striking design of the hydroforming frame, which took up features from the automotive sector in the design language of the e-bike. The BMW e-bike does not have to hide from the competition in terms of technology either: a drive from the Bosch Performance Line provides power, and the 10-speed Shimano XT gearshift provides sufficient bandwidth. Hydraulic disc brakes bring the 22kg bike to a standstill in good time.
BMW i8 and Cruise e-Bike: siblings in spirit
At the Paris Motor Show, BMW caused a stir with the presentation of an exclusive special edition of the hybrid car i8: The paint finish in Protonic Dark Silver in particular attracted a lot of curious looks. Since a sporty hybrid like the i8 is just as much part of the new mobility cosmos of the traditional German manufacturer as the Cruise e-bike, BMW has now come up with something special: A special edition of the BMW e-bike limited to 300 pieces will have exactly the same one Protonic Dark Silver tint.
The e-bike is available now from BMW dealers at a price of €3.500. Each copy comes with an exclusive plaque and certificate.
