Track News: As part of the Track World Championships currently taking place in London, UCI President Brian Cookson informed the assembled press representatives of the venue for next year's title fights. The 2017 World Cup will be held in Hong Kong – the date being discussed is Easter 2017 (April 12 – 16.4).
According to Cookson, the deciding factor for the award was the extremely successful Track World Cup last January in Hong Kong - UCI and riders were equally impressed by the good organization and the great new velodrome. It is currently being examined whether it is possible to hold the World Cup during the Easter holidays on the second weekend in April. The timing of the individual competitions will also be exciting - the time zone of the Asian city-state is seven hours ahead of Germany - so next year we will probably be able to watch the title defenses of Joachim Eilers and Kristina Vogel in the morning and early afternoon.
