Market: The market for e-bikes is booming. This is shown not only by the sales figures of the retailers, but also by the ever broader portfolios of the manufacturers in this area. The Bavarian manufacturer Haibike already had a huge selection of motorized bikes for all purposes in the past. On Sunday evening, no fewer than 540 new models were presented to 39 invited guests in Schweinfurt - from downhillers to a new children's e-bike to e-racers.
"THE NEXT BIG THING" - this is how Susanne Puello - Managing Director of the Winora Group - announced the new and extended ePerformance model series from Haibike last Sunday at the time of the crime scene. The developers are sticking to the two-pronged concept that has already established itself at the manufacturer from Lower Franconia last year. The XDURO e-bikes come with a mid-engine from Bosch and cover a huge range of uses from road bikes to downhill bikes, while the SDURO series is aimed more at price-conscious buyers. The drive here comes from Yamaha.
XDURO³ – New frame, new drive
The XDURO series has been available from Haibike since 2011 and has been continuously developed since then. The model year for 2016 therefore bears the title XDURO³ - it is the third generation of the popular e-bikes with Bosch drive. So what's new for the upcoming season? Lots! First of all, it should be mentioned that Haibike, like many other manufacturers, will be relying on the new Bosch Performance CX motor for most models next year. This was specially developed for sporty use - especially off the road. With the new "Trail Control" function, the driver can, for example, fine-tune the motor support at any time over a wide range.
Most XDURO³ models have a completely newly developed frame, the main highlight of which is the new Gravity Casting Interface. This is a massive CNC milled part in the middle of the frame, into which the motor is firmly screwed. Thanks to the further developed Bosch CX drive, the gravity casting and the frame construction, the designers were able to reduce the space required for the drive - at least visually - by almost 40% compared to the previous version.
Haibike's new Gravity Casting Interface
Speaking of looks: the Gravity Casting, in combination with the new frame, also enables a visually very successful integration of the battery. This is clipped into the frame with a quick-release fastener, similar to a ski boot in a binding, and can also be loaded there on the spot - removal is possible, but not necessary. Visually, this results in a new, albeit somewhat unusual image: the down tube with the battery mounted on it flows smoothly into the solid bottom bracket area and the gravity casting located there.
Product news: Haibike E-MTBs 2017: SDURO series with a new drive and Plus tires
Market / e-performance: Haibike is not only one of the pioneers in the e-bike sector in Germany, but worldwide. The manufacturer from Schweinfurt has been represented with a wide range of e-MTBs in particular for many years. In addition, buyers have the choice between two different drives – Bosch and Yamaha. The latter comes in the Haibike SDURO […]
12 new models - downhillers to racing bikes
Last year, Haibike already had the largest range of e-bikes in the world with over 25 models in the XDURO line alone. For 2016, this will even be expanded. The XDURO Dwnhll Pro is brand new. A real downhill bike with 200mm suspension travel at the front and rear, 63,5° steering angle, correspondingly low bottom bracket and an extremely stable frame. Another highlight is the XDURO Urban, which borrows the frame of the XDURO Race racing bikes, but whose equipment is tailored to use in the urban jungle.

Haibike SDURO – 27 new models
The Haibike SDURO model series with a mid-mounted motor from Yamaha, which was introduced last year and quickly established itself, is getting an enormous increase for 2016: the people from Lower Franconia presented 27 new models on Sunday. The SDURO Nduro is brand new - with a whopping 180mm of spring travel, the E-Enduro also feels at home in the bike park - you can probably save yourself the lift ticket. Another highlight is the HardFour - a 24-inch hardtail for children and young people from the age of 20 years. The maximum supported speed is limited to XNUMX km/h. Haibike is thus expanding its SDURO product range enormously in all areas. The Yamaha engine has also been further developed, it has become quieter and more economical. As with the XDUROs, the new Gravity Casting Interface is also used here.
